The Sika PEF Rod is manufactured from the highest quality closed cell polyethylene to produce a joint backing material primarily for use in conjunction with elastomeric sealants. It is pushed into gaps to form a uniform and firm base for controlling the depth of gun applied elastomeric sealants. It can be used for forming the base of vertical and horizontal joints between precast concrete panels, concrete floors, around timber and aluminium windows, around penetrations through walls and floors and in expansion joints between bricks and masonry. It also can be used for draught-proofing and dust-proofing of joints in situations where no other form of sealing is required.
