NEVER us a water extinguisher on grease fires, electrical fires, or Class D fires as it will make the flames spread and get bigger. These are suitable only for Class A (ordinary combustibles) fires. In accordance with NZS 4503:2005 a fire extinguisher is to be tested/inspected at least once every 12 months, or every 6 months if installed in a vehicle. At 5-year intervals from manufacture the fire extinguisher needs to be discharged, pressure tested, inspected, and recharged
