Excavation Kits

Excavation Kits, Fossil Digging Sets & Educational Science Toys:

Excavation kits turn the process of uncovering hidden objects into a hands-on learning activity for children. The Smartfox collection features National Geographic digging kits, dinosaur fossil excavation sets, gemstone discovery activities, shark figurine digs, pirate treasure kits and planet-themed models. These educational science toys introduce subjects such as palaeontology, geology, marine life and astronomy through practical exploration.

Dinosaur Fossil Excavation Kits:

Dinosaur digging kits are ideal for children interested in prehistoric animals and fossils. The range includes dinosaur egg excavation activities and a National Geographic Dino Fossil Dig Kit containing three genuine fossils: a dinosaur bone, mosasaur tooth and coprolite.

The fossil kit includes a digging tool, brush, magnifying glass, educational guide and activity booklet. Children can carefully excavate their specimens before examining and learning about their discoveries.

Gemstone Digging Kits & Mineral Discovery:

For budding geologists, National Geographic gemstone excavation kits offer the opportunity to uncover real minerals, including quartz, amethyst and tiger's eye.

The collection includes larger gemstone discovery kits and smaller mini digging sets, alongside fool's gold excavation activities. Selected kits provide magnifying glasses and illustrated learning guides to help children identify and understand their findings.

Pirate Treasure & Shark Excavation Kits:

Treasure-themed excavation kits introduce a different kind of discovery. The Gold Doubloon Dig Kit features a treasure chest-shaped digging brick containing two replica historical coins and three genuine pyrite specimens.

Shark excavation kits focus on marine life, with National Geographic sets containing hammerhead and great white shark figurines hidden inside a digging brick. Educational guides provide additional information about these ocean animals.

Planet Excavation Kits & Space Activities:

Children interested in astronomy can explore planet digging kits featuring Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Neptune, Uranus and Saturn.

These planet-themed excavation activities combine digging and brushing with information about the solar system. Selected models measure approximately 7cm in diameter and include a chisel and brush.

Choosing an Excavation Kit:

Consider the child's interests, age and preferred type of discovery. Fossil kits suit dinosaur enthusiasts, gemstone sets introduce rocks and minerals, while planet excavation kits are suited to young space explorers.

Compare the number of items to uncover, included excavation tools and educational materials. Some kits contain genuine fossils or minerals, while others reveal replica objects or collectable figurines.

Many of these hands-on STEM activities are designed for children aged six and over, although individual product age recommendations should be checked before purchasing.
