Crayola Twistables coloured pencils use clear plastic barrels and require no sharpening. Simply twist the barrel to expose more colour as the tip wears down. The 12-colour set is designed for ages four and over.

Triangular coloured pencils are another child-focused option. Their three-sided shape is designed to sit comfortably in smaller hands and encourage correct pencil grip, while the 3.33mm lead is made to be stronger than an ordinary pencil lead.

The Sketch & Shade 14-pack combines coloured pencils with gel cores for smooth application on light and dark paper, plus two graphite pencils for initial sketching.
