Box Graters for Cheese, Vegetables, Zesting & Slicing:

Box graters provide several food-preparation surfaces in one upright kitchen tool, making them useful for everything from shredding cheese and vegetables to zesting citrus and slicing ingredients. This collection includes two-sided, four-sided, five-in-one and six-sided box graters from brands including OXO Good Grips, Microplane, Cuisipro, Joseph Joseph, Avanti and Taylors.

Multi-Sided Stainless Steel Box Graters:

Most of the range combines stainless steel grating surfaces with different blade patterns for varied textures. Depending on the model, these can include fine, medium, coarse and ultra-coarse grating, star-style grating, shaving and slicing surfaces.

Traditional four-sided box graters provide an adaptable option for everyday food preparation, while more specialised designs add extra functions. Cuisipro’s six-sided model, for example, incorporates multiple grating and slicing surfaces along with a ginger grater base, while the Microplane Elite 5-in-1 combines five blade styles for ingredients such as cheese, vegetables, citrus and chocolate.

Box Graters with Containers & Extra Features:

Several box graters in the collection include containers or trays designed to catch grated ingredients. OXO models include storage containers, with one design also featuring a removable zester that can be used separately over a bowl or chopping board. Avanti also offers a four-sided grater with an integrated storage box.

Other useful design features found across the range include non-slip bases, ergonomic or non-slip handles and food grips. The Joseph Joseph Multi-Grip Box Grater combines four stainless steel blades with a food holder designed to grip both small ingredients such as garlic or ginger and larger foods such as carrots and blocks of cheese.

Choosing the Right Box Grater:

Choose a four-sided box grater if you want a straightforward combination of coarse, fine and slicing functions. Five- or six-sided graters provide additional textures for more varied preparation, while a removable zester can be useful if you regularly work with citrus or finely grated ingredients. If keeping grated food contained is important, look for a box grater with a collecting or storage container.
