DOVO Solingen straight razors are probably the finest razors for shaving in the world. They have a centuries old tradition of fine metal work and their processes for making straight razors is impeccable. The machinery they use is no longer made and so they have to keep producing these products "the old way." The profile of the blade has to be just right. If you remove too much material, it throws the whole grind off and the razor will never shave correctly. There are few craftsmen qualified to do the finish grinding on these blades and it is difficult for DOVO to keep up with the worldwide demand. In fact, they are no longer accepting orders even from us--and we've been selling their razors for over 20 years.
