A stunning piece of Kiwiana art that makes a wonderful christening cloak. Hand-made in New Zealand using beautiful feathers. This is the same as a full-size modern Korowai, just scaled down. It is fully lined and the feathers wrap around to the inside.
Meaning of the taniko band:
The Poutama (step-like pattern) has both religious and educational meanings. The steps symbolize levels of attainment and advancement. This pattern represents the staircase that T?ne-nui-a-Rangi climbed to heaven to get the three baskets of knowledge for the M?ori people.
